Building a mailing list is one of the most successful ways to make money online.

It is therefore not for nothing that you hear the statement “ The Money Is In The List ” often enough on the internet. Building a mailing list is a must-have for every internet marketer!

Unfortunately, many people have trouble building a ‘list’ and lose a lot of money doing so.

In this article I will explain (and demonstrate) in detail how you can successfully build your own mailing list.

Note: This article contains many inside tips and tricks. Maybe it all seems a bit advanced, try to get over this. Building a mailing list is not technical and difficult. It’s actually very easy; you just need to know how.

So don’t get discouraged.

Step 1: Choose and set up a mail provider

To build a mailing list you must of course have the option to send newsletters to your members. You can’t do this without a mail provider.

A mail provider is, as it were, a service that allows you to collect e-mail addresses and send e-mails to your members. In addition, many mail providers also allow you to set up autoresponders (automatically send e-mails) and keep a close eye on your statistics.

Brownmailer.com allows you to do this also there are many of them…….

You can try brownmailer.com for free for about a month. So see you see how it works

When you have chosen a mail provider that you want to continue with, it is time to properly configure the mail provider. This of course works differently with every mail provider.

It’s about making a list that your members will be on. So people sign up on your website (or anywhere else), and then end up on your email list.

The reason you should make a list is because you can have people sign up for different things. For example, you can let people register for a free webinar or a free e-book.

Have you created a list? Then you are ready for the next step!

Step 2: Integrate opt-in form on your website

People will be on your mailing list when you have integrated an opt-in form on your website. An opt-in form ensures that people can easily register.

You can often use a code through your mail provider that you can place on your website. When you place this code on your website, a simple opt-in form appears where people can leave their name and email address.

When they fill it out and click submit, they’ll end up on your email list (after they’ve confirmed their signup, of course).

The trick to successfully building a mailing list is to give something away when people sign up. No one is going to register for a boring “newsletter”, people want a good reason to sign up.

How to make this attractive, I will tell you later in this article.

Once you have removed the opt-in code from your mail provider, you can easily integrate it on your (WordPress) website. All you have to do is place the code where you want it. A good place to do this is for example with the WordPress widgets at the top right.

Brownmailer form code
Above you see the HTML code of my opt-in form. So I can paste this code directly on my website.

What matters is that your opt-in form stands out. So don’t push it away somewhere in a dark corner of your website, but let it stand out so that people see it immediately. It would be a shame if no one signed up for your newsletter because it doesn’t stand out.

Your conversion percentage will increase enormously if you use a nice opt-in page. Read how to create a good opt-in page using brownmailer: create opt-in page .

Step 3: Give people a reason to sign up for your mailing list

As I mentioned above, people aren’t just going to sign up for a “newsletter”, people want a reason to leave their name and email address with you.

You can therefore build up your mailing list by ‘giving something away’; a present.

When people sign up for your newsletter, they receive a gift from you. For example, I give all my subscribers a free e-book full of valuable information. People really benefit from that.

This is what it looks like on theadsensefamily.com

optin page

When you click on the free e-book, the opt-in form immediately appears.

I do this firstly to give a good reason to sign up, but also to provide a lot of valuable information. In addition, it also helps your expert status.

You can think about giving the following ‘presents’:

  • Free e-book (read how to write an ebook here )
  • Free video
  • Access a secret page on your website
  • An exclusive offer

The most used ‘gift’ is a free e-book. I use this myself and I definitely recommend doing this too. Of course you can also use the other examples; it’s about giving people something that offers extra value.

Step 4: Building the mailing list tips and tricks

You should now know how to broadly build a mailing list. Sign up with brownmailer.com now and get people to sign up by giving a free gift.

To help you a little further on your way, I have put a number of useful tips below that will help you build your mailing list even faster.

  • Create a beautiful e-cover for your e-book
  • You will see that people sign up, but sometimes don’t confirm their registration. You can prevent this by setting up a nice ‘ thank you page ‘ that illustrates what the next steps are
  • Use friendly colors . A green or orange download button gives the best result
  • Put yourself in the visitor’s shoes, use login buttons like “Yes! Send My Free E-Book Now!”
  • Be Valuable ; show that you are an expert in your field

When you use these tips you will undoubtedly quickly build a good mailing list. The most important thing is that you provide relevant and valuable information.
